Deion Sanders, took issue with the rating, stating that Hunter is arguably the best receiver

Hunter had an outstanding season as the top cornerback for the Buffaloes, and he also finished second in receiving yards. Earlier this week, Hunter was one of seven players to receive a 95 overall ranking in the game, making him the highest-ranked wide receiver. However, Michigan’s Will Johnson is rated higher as a cornerback.

His head coach, Deion Sanders, took issue with the rating, stating that Hunter is arguably the best receiver and defensive back in college football and should be the highest overall player in the game.

“How can Travis not have the highest score on the game when he’s arguably the best receiver and the best defensive back in college football,” Sanders said via On3. “So, how can you not be the number one rated guy, period? I don’t understand that either.”

Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Travis Hunter (12) is congratulated for his touchdown by head coach Deion Sanders in the first quarter against the Stanford Cardinal at Folsom Field.

Sanders admitted that he doesn’t know much about video games but ultimately concluded that releasing these ratings is good for “conversational pieces.” Still, he presents a strong case for Hunter. Hunter ended the season with 57 catches for 721 yards and five touchdowns as a wide receiver. He recorded 30 tackles on defense and led the team with three interceptions and five pass deflections.

He’s undoubtedly one of the best players in college football and will be key to success in Boulder, CO.
