PGA predictions, best bets by model that nailed 10 majors :2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship odds, picks, field..

Scottie Scheffler was completely dominant over the final three months of the PGA Tour 2022-23 regular season with seven straight top-five finishes prior to The Open Championship in his season’s final event. The No. 1 golfer in the world is the 13-2 favorite to win the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship to begin the 2023 FedEx Cup Playoffs, starting on Thursday at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn. The first tee times come at 8:50 a.m. ET. Will the favorite breakthrough at the 2023 St. Jude Championship in the first leg on the quest toward an $18 million grand prize?

For the first time in the 17-year playoff, the opening field has dropped from 125 golfers to 70. This means a much more competitive field with 50 golfers advancing to the next week’s BMW Championship. Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy are getting 8-1 in the latest 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship odds with Patrick Cantlay (14-1) and Xander Schauffele (16-1) following on the PGA odds board. Before locking in your 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. And at the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm’s second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scottie Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, the model included Nick Taylor in its best bets to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. That bet hit at +7000, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,900. McClure’s best bets also included Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2023 FedEx St. Judge Championship field is set, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the FedEx St. Jude Championship 2023: McIlroy, the defending FedEx Cup Playoffs champion and one of the top favorites this week, stumbles and doesn’t even crack the top three. The model has identified him as a poor value in the outright winner market at 8-1.

The No. 2 golfer in the OWGR has been almost automatic when it comes to top-10s and being in contention in general. But he’s struggled to finish off big tournaments overall with only wins at the Scottish Open and CJ Cup this season despite his overall great form. He also missed the cut altogether at this event in 2022 before storming back to take the overall playoff crown.

Another surprise: Tyrrell Hatton, a 25-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Hatton made the cut in 17 of 18 PGA Tour events this season, including seven top-10 finishes, and he finished in the top 15 in six of his final eight events entering the FedEx Cup playoffs.
